The prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) is a major global challenge. SCD represents one of the leading, if not the leading, cause of death in young and middle-aged men and women. The challenge is best met by a multi-pronged attack that includes optimising risk identification, resuscitation and post-arrest care. Science and research should guide innovations and quality control as we navigate practice change and lifesaving interventions.
The Summit is aimed at highlighting the state-of-play in Australia and internationally. We are joined by Professors Eloi Marijon and Michael Papadakis who head the Lancet Commission to reduce the global burden of sudden cardiac death and the European Society of Preventive Cardiology respectively. In addition to international perspective from world leaders we have some of Australia’s brightest leaders in resuscitation implementation science.
The summit will also hear from previous and current politicians who have committed to supporting our Cardiac Arrest prevention mission. They will provide insights into strategies to increase awareness, advocacy and reach as a means of accelerating translation from discovery to policy and health behaviour change.
We urge anyone who is committed to SCD and resuscitation science, awareness and policy to attend the 2025 Cardiac Arrest Summit in Lorne, Victoria.
