Suzie is a resource economist and Portfolio Leader for Society, Culture and Policy at Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research NZ. She has over 30 years’ experience working in New Zealand, US, Australia, Caribbean and the Pacific on natural resource issues, policy, and decision-making processes. Much of her research has focused on environment and agricultural policy, economic instruments, and participatory/collaborative approaches to address environmental issues such as climate change, freshwater degradation, and loss of biodiversity. In many instances, the response to these issues involves the transition of land to alternative uses. Suzie holds degrees in resource economics and agricultural and rural science (soils) from the US and Australia. .
