Jordan Munn

CEO, Trapp and Trigger

I began my career as a possum trapper and deer culler in Fiordland at the age of 17, progressessing into a contractor undertaking ground-based culling with detection dogs right throughout New Zealand by the age of 19. Since 2013 I have been contracting to the Department of Conservation, Regional/District Councils, the Private sector and TBfree working on ungulate management. Forming the company Trap and Trigger with wife Mikayla in 2015, we have now undertaken over 160 ungulate management projects and and 215 pest plant and predator control operations. During that time, highlights were, leading the Guana Island goat eradication in the Caribbean, working the Sitka Blacktail eradication in Canada, Rusa deer eradication in the Whitsundays, Red deer eradication on Secretary Island Fiordland, and  coordinating a deer management masterclasses for NSW DPI.

Other lines of work include national Wallaby containment, Tahr containment and consultancy work for regional councils forming strategies and high level plans. In 2017, Trap and Trigger invested in TADS to increase the efficiencies of ongoing contracts and also provide greater management abilities for conservation projects. Being rewarded a conservation award in 2018 by Minister Sage. A new branch in my career. has been the deployment of DNA surveys for populatipon analysis and eradication planning. Also investing in thermal drone capabilities to assist ground and aerial operations. Trap and Trigger now has 18 staff situated across Aotearoa and contributed 24,000 hours of field operations to environmental projects in 2022.
