Tom Simpson is National President of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA), the organisation representing Australia’s pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in hospitals and collaborative care settings.  Tom has spent his career working alongside and in partnership with clinicians across the spectrum of professions and specialties, and is a strong advocate for the patient safety benefits of collaborative medication management. Tom holds an academic appointment as Senior Clinical Lecturer, University of Tasmania; and is employed to lead the Tasmanian government’s Statewide Hospital Pharmacy service. In 2018 Tom was awarded Tasmanian Pharmacist of the Year, and was the 2019 recipient of the SHPA Medal of Merit, recognising outstanding contribution to practice.
