David has worked for the Department of Health and Aged Care in a variety of roles for almost 20 years, with a strong focus on Medicare programs. He has played leading roles in multiple reviews of the MBS and PBS, negotiated strategic agreements with key stakeholders and built a strong knowledge base in service delivery, funding and compliance. He has developed, reviewed and rolled out many MBS items and changes, including for GP, primary care, specialist and consultant physician services. In 2019, David accepted the challenge of building the department's first dedicated hospital compliance team, delivering on a commitment in the National Health Reform Agreement to detect and prevent duplicate payments. David has recently transitioned to developing and leading a Medicare corporate compliance team, which will have a strong focus on provider engagement and education to support compliant billing.
