Dr Joanna Gong is an endocrinologist at hospitals in Melbourne, concurrently completing a PhD in diabetes and cardiometabolic health, supported by NHMRC and Heart Foundation scholarships. She sits on multiple research and education committees, including at the Baker Institute and RACP, and is a lecturer/tutor for two medical schools.

Dr Farrah Rodrigues is a paediatric endocrinologist at Queensland Children's Hospital, concurrently she is completing a PhD in youth-onset type 2 diabetes at the University of Melbourne and Murdoch Children's Research Institute, supported by the MACH-Track clinician-scientist scholarship and an Australian Government Research Training Program scholarship. She is Secretary of the ANZSPED Type 2 Diabetes Working Group, which focuses on improving outcomes for youth-onset type 2 diabetes.

Professor Tien Yin Wong is a physician-scientist-innovator and the Senior Vice-Chancellor of Tsinghua Medicine and Vice-Provost of Tsinghua University, China. He has worked and held senior leadership roles in Singapore and Australia, including at the National University of Singapore, SingHealth Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore National Eye Centre, and University of Melbourne. Prof Wong is a practicing retinal specialist, with a research portfolio on retinal diseases, ocular imaging, AI and digital technology. He has published >1,600 peer-reviewed papers (H-index >200, highly cited researcher 2020-2025), given >600 invited named, plenary and symposium lectures, and received >US$100 million in grant funding. Prof Wong has been recognized with multiple international awards, including Arnall Patz Medal (Macula Society), Jose Rizal Medal (Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology) and Friedenwald Award (ARVO). He has received Singapore’s President’s Science and Technology Award. He is an elected international (foreign) member of the US National Academy of Medicine and the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. He is also an elected fellow of the UK Royal Society.

Dr Andrea Luk is an endocrinologist and is currently Professor of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also the Director of the CUHK Clinical Research Management Office, Medical Director (non-oncology) of the CUHK Phase 1 Clinical Trial Centre, and serves as an Honorary Consultant at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Dr Luk’s research interests include diabetes epidemiology, young-onset diabetes, and translational research related to diabetes care paths. Dr Luk leads the analysis of a large database of 1 million people with diabetes in Hong Kong. She has published over 230 articles in peer reviewed journals.

Professor Ronald Ma’s research focuses on the epidemiology and genetics of diabetes and its complications, gestational diabetes, and precision medicine in diabetes. He has published over 500 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and has been involved in a large number of clinical trials evaluating new treatments for diabetes and diabetic kidney disease. Dr Ma plays an active role in diabetes advocacy. He has served on expert panels for the World Health Organization, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Pregnancy and NCD Committee, as well as serving as council member of the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes (AASD). He received the Xiaoren Pan Distinguished Research Award for Epidemiology of Diabetes in Asia from the AASD in 2020. He led the precision prognostic workgroup for the ADA/EASD Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative. He is a council member of the Hong Kong College of Physicians. Locally he is working with a local charity, Youth Diabetes Action, to improve access to diabetes technology for young people with diabetes in Hong Kong.
