Shannon Ryan is the Program Manager - Entrepreneurship at La Trobe University, where he designs and delivers industry-engaged programs that empower students, researchers and start-ups to transform innovative ideas into real-world impact. With extensive experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, partnership development and program management, he has led collaborations with industry, government and global partners to foster entrepreneurial capability. Living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) for 40 years, Shannon is a passionate advocate for awareness and research and is currently training for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon to raise funds for Breakthrough T1D Australia.

Dr Kirstine Bell is an NHMRC Emerging Research Leadership Fellow at the University of Sydney, Australia. She is a dietitian and diabetes educator and holds a PhD in diabetes management. Her career has spanned all forms of diabetes and includes both clinical and public health experience and research. She has led and/or contributed to the development of major diabetes clinical guidelines, and her research has been implemented into clinical practice internationally.

Prof. Stephen Twigg, MBBS(Hons-I), PhD(Syd), FRACP, is Head, Dept of Endocrinology, RPA Hospital, plus Kellion Professor of Endocrinology, Stan Clark Chair in Diabetes, and Head of Central Clinical School in Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. As a physician-scientist and clinical triallist his research program since 1995, is dedicated to preventing and managing end-organ complications in diabetes, including foot disease in diabetes through the RPAH interdisciplinary Diabetes High Risk Foot Service, in dysmetabolic steatohepatitis (MASH) in diabetes (leading the inaugural ADS Living guideline), and in long duration type 1 diabetes (collaborating with DA. He is a past ADS Kellion Award recipient and a past President of the ADS.

Gordon Bunyan has lived with T1D for over 50 year and for all of that time has been active in diabetes member and research organisations in Australia, and internationally as Chair of the IDF Western Pacific Region, Vice President of International Diabetes Federation and as an initial director of Life For A Child (USA). Today he is a director of Diabetes Australia, Deputy Chair, Programme Committee for the IDF-WPR Australasian Diabetes Congress 2026 and the Kellion Victory Medal Ambassador in Australia. He is a strong advocate for people with diabetes, working to ensure organisations put people with diabetes first. And, by racing classic sports cars in his spare time, demonstrates that the things other people think we should NOT do are always possible.
