Appleton is an Artist / Street Artist, Activist & speaker—creating images in multiple self-taught disciplines. All in the name of diabetes awareness through street art, painting, photography & sculpture. After surviving a diabetic coma at the age of six, Appleton began to save almost every bottle of insulin that has gone through his system, amounting to hundreds of bottles, still found in much of his work today. Through his art, Appleton hopes to inspire millions with diabetes to carry on is this daily battle. To educate the unknowing, trying to prevent misconceptions and falsehoods about diabetes to continue. Vincent has been thriving with Type 1 Diabetes for over 32 years—a journey that inspired him to begin volunteering and providing peer support back in 2008. His dedication led him to represent Hong Kong SAR as a Youth Leader at the 9th IDF-WPR Congress in 2012. Since 2014, he has brought his creative talents to the council of Diabetes Hong Kong, designing educational initiatives for children and youth. As a professional designer with a background in Art and Design Education, Vincent uplifts others through storytelling. Through his first picture book, My Space Shuttle #1, he hopes to inspire young Type 1 warriors to embrace their challenges and launch into their own incredible journeys!
