11:15 AM - 11:30 AMBiography
Qiao Xiuqi is a Ph.D. candidate at Peking Union Medical College. She has published five papers in Chinese core journals and seven SCI papers as the first author. Additionally, she has filed two patents as the primary inventor, with one already granted.
Dr Cong Xie
Research Fellow

The insulinotropic response to endogenous GIP in people with suboptimally controlled type 2 diabetes before and after 12 weeks of sitagliptin treatment
11:30 AM - 11:45 AMBiography
Dr Cong Xie is an early career post-doc at Adelaide University in research focusing on understanding the key role of the gut and taste signalling in glucose metabolism in both health and type 2 diabetes and the translation of these novel insights into improved therapy for type 2 diabetes.
Dr Andrzej Januszewski
Senior Research Fellow
University of Sydney
Socioeconomic status modifies triglyceride-rich lipoprotein response to fenofibrate in the FIELD trial
11:45 AM - 12:00 PMBiography
Dr Andrzej Januszewski is a clinician-researcher at the University of Sydney focused on diabetes complications, insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk and biomarkers. His work integrates clinical trials, epidemiology and socioeconomic data to address health equity and access to care. He developed multiple online tools to improve risk prediction and doctor–patient communication.
Dr Huu Thanh Le

Westmead Institute for Medical Research
Multiplex immune monitoring predicts graft rejection in Porcine Islet Xenotransplantation
12:00 PM - 12:15 PMBiography
Dr Le earned his PhD from Western Sydney University in 2024 and is a postdoctoral fellow at the Westmead Institute. His research focuses on xeno-islet transplantation for type 1 diabetes. Supported by Breakthrough T1D and NHMRC, he has published internationally and won the 2025 WIMR Excellence Award and CPC grant.
Dr Weikun Huang
Grant-funded Researcher
Adelaide University
Serum bile acid response to an oral glucose load is exaggerated in newly diagnosed, treatment-naive, Chinese with type 2 diabetes and reduced by insulin-pump therapy
12:15 PM - 12:30 PMBiography
Weikun is an early career researcher in multidisciplinary medical science, undertaking postdoctoral research training at Adelaide University. He has a unique interdisciplinary background across medicine, physics and material sciences, which has enabled me to develop novel research platforms, and embark on studies to understand metabolic derangement in major metabolic diseases.
