Prof. Lim is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Head of the Department of Research, Development, and Innovation at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is the former Head of the Diabetes Care Unit, Universiti Malaya (2022-2025). She also holds honorary positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. As a clinician-scientist, Prof. Lim’s major areas of interest are cardiometabolic medicine (epidemiology, molecular, and implementation science). Prof. Lim sits on the Scientific Work Groups of the American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes (ADA/EASD) Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative and the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Diabetes Compact. She has published more than 130 peer-reviewed articles, including in The Lancet, Nature, Diabetes Care, and Science Bulletin. Prof. Lim has received several awards, including the 2025 Malaysia Scopus Research Start Award – Women in Research Excellence (STEM) Category, Universiti Malaya’s Top Cited Researcher 2024, World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for 4 consecutive years (2022-2025), and the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) Albert Renold Fellowship, tenable at the University of Oxford, UK. She is an Editorial Board Member of several Tier 1 Web of Science-indexed journals. She is also the Vice President of Diabetes Malaysia (a country affiliate of the International Diabetes Federation) and the Council Member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society

Professor Dianna Magliano has a BAppSci (Hons), PhD and MPH. Dianna has worked for over 17 years in epidemiology in diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity research as the epidemiologist of the Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle Study. Her more recent work involves exploring trends in diabetes incidence and mortality across the globe and data linkage of Australian datasets. She has a strong international reputation evidenced by her role as an editor for Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice and her position as co-chair of the Diabetes Atlas for the International Diabetes Federation. She is currently supported by a NHMRC Investigator grant. She has been awarded the Australian Jeff flack Diabetes data award and in 2021, she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her work in epidemiology, teaching and gender equity

Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Selvin is Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research and Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine at Johns Hopkins. She is the author or co-author of over 650 papers in the peer-reviewed literature. Dr. Selvin is a Deputy Editor of Diabetes Care and holds a Merit Award from the American Heart Association. She was the 2020 winner of the Kelly M. West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology from the American Diabetes Association. Her work has directly influenced clinical practice guidelines for diagnosis and management of diabetes. She has mentored or co-mentored over 65 students and fellows, many of whom are now leaders in the field.

Dr Juliana Chan is Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Director, Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity. She is a diabetologist and clinical pharmacologist with interest in epidemiology, genetics, clinical trials and care models. Since 1990s, she had trained a multidisciplinary team and set up the diabetes clinical trial unit and participated in landmark studies in diabetes and kidney disease as lead investigator and member of steering committee. She translated the learning from clinical trials to establish the Hong Kong Diabetes Register and biobank which evolved to become web-based Joint Asia Diabetes Evaluation (JADE) Platform to implement pragmatic trials and data-driven care with creation of real-world evidence and discovery of biomarkers for precision medicine. She has published 1000 articles and 30 book chapters and serves on advisory boards of multinational companies and committees of practice guidelines.

Professor Jonathan Shaw is Deputy Director (Clinical and Population Health) at Melbourne’s Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, where his research focuses on epidemiology and clinical research in diabetes, and he is also a consultant physician in the diabetes services. He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed scientific papers, is the Chair of the Diabetes Advisory Group to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, President-Elect of the Australian Diabetes Society, and a Past-President of the International Diabetes Epidemiology Group. He has appeared on a number of the lists of the world’s most highly-cited researchers.
