Steven Kahn is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He holds the Leonard L. Wright and Marjorie C. Wright Chair and directs the Diabetes Research Center at the University. His research interests include the role of the β-cell in the pathogenesis and treatment of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. He has performed physiological studies and actively participated in several large multicenter clinical trials to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes, which include studies comparing youth and adults. Aside from his clinical studies, he has an extensive basic research program examining the loss of β-cells in type 2 diabetes. He is the editor-in-chief of Diabetes Care.

Linong Ji is a Medicine Professor at Peking University, heading both the Peking University Diabetes Center and the Endocrinology & Metabolism Department of Peking University People’s Hospital. He holds key domestic academic posts: Co-Chair of the Chinese Cardio-Metabolic Association and Co-Executive President of the China Obesity Federation, alongside core roles in major national medical bodies. Internationally, he sits on the executive board of the Asia Association for the Study of Diabetes, with past senior titles including Chair of IDF Western Pacific Region, President of the Chinese Diabetes Society and IDF Global Vice President. Graduated with an MD from Beijing Medical University in 1986, he finished postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School’s Joslin Diabetes Center. His research covers diabetes genetics, translational medicine and innovative anti-diabetes & anti-obesity drugs. Leading over 160 clinical trials, he has authored over 700 peer-reviewed papers. An Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar (2020–2025) and top 2% global scientist (2022–2025), he edits the Chinese Diabetes Journal and joins editorial boards of top international diabetes publications.

Brian Oldenburg is Senior Principal Research Fellow and Team Lead of the NCD and Implementation Science team at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Until recently, he was the Director of the Connected Health NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Digital Technology. He studies how to improve the prevention and management of cardiometabolic diseases in high income and resource constrained settings. His research has developed new community-based, digital health and health system interventions to improve diabetes and other health outcomes. Currently, he is a Visiting Professor, Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy at the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, Denmark (2023-26).

Dr. V. Mohan is Chairman, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation at Chennai in South India. He oversees a chain of 51 diabetes centres across 8 states of India and has over 700,000 registered persons with diabetes across his centres. His main research interests are epidemiology of diabetes and its complications, monogenic diabetes, type 1 diabetes, fibrocalculous pancreatic diabetes, precision diabetes and nutrition in diabetes. Dr. Mohan has published 1875 papers which includes 1220 original articles. His research has attracted over 252,000 citations and has a ‘h index’ of 175. Dr. Mohan has trained a large number of physicians & diabetologists in addition to nurses and educators. He has received several awards for his research.

Dr Andrea Luk is an endocrinologist and is currently Professor of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also the Director of the CUHK Clinical Research Management Office, Medical Director (non-oncology) of the CUHK Phase 1 Clinical Trial Centre, and serves as an Honorary Consultant at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Dr Luk’s research interests include diabetes epidemiology, young-onset diabetes, and translational research related to diabetes care paths. Dr Luk leads the analysis of a large database of 1 million people with diabetes in Hong Kong. She has published over 230 articles in peer reviewed journals.
