Timothy Davis is an endocrinologist and general physician based at Fremantle Hospital, and Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. He is principal investigator of the Fremantle Diabetes Study, a large-scale prospective study of diabetes in a community-based cohort, and has been as Associate Investigator in the UK Prospective Diabetes Study. Professor Davis is author or co-author of more than 540 original peer-reviewed research papers. He has participated in a number of key diabetes intervention trials including SUSTAIN-6 and SURPASS-4. He is a member and past Vice President of the Australian Diabetes Society, was the Society’s 2014 Kellion Lecturer in recognition of his outstanding contribution to diabetes research and clinical care in Australia. He was recently a member of the Australian Government’s Commonwealth Science Council and Co-Deputy Chair of the Australian Government Medical Services Advisory Committee.

Dr Amira Howari is a Senior Clinical Optometrist, health advocate, keynote speaker, educator, media commentator and thought leader committed to advancing person-centred healthcare by bridging clinical expertise, lived experience and health-system innovation. Recognised for her leadership in diabetes and eye health, she works across clinical practice, policy, education and strategic healthcare initiatives to improve outcomes for people living with chronic conditions. Dr Howari serves as a Diabetes Australia Ambassador, Board Director of the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia (PCDSA), member of the Diabetes and Endocrine Network at the Agency for Clinical Innovation (NSW Health), guest speaker and former Clinical Supervisor at the University of New South Wales, and former NSW/ACT Board Councillor for Optometry Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Optometry (Honours), Graduate Certificate of Ocular Therapeutics and Master of Optometry from the University of New South Wales. Throughout her career, Dr Howari has worked across corporate, independent, pharmaceutical and ophthalmology settings, including senior Professional Affairs and Clinical Professional Affairs roles. She is also the founder of the PEACE Optometry Conference and currently consults with government agencies, not-for-profit organisations and industry partners on the development and implementation of strategic healthcare initiatives, digital health innovation and multidisciplinary models of care. An internationally sought-after speaker, Dr Howari regularly presents at national and international conferences and contributes to leading health industry publications. Living with type 1 diabetes for more than 34 years has provided her with a unique perspective that combines lived experience with over two decades of clinical practice. This dual perspective underpins her advocacy for integrated, multidisciplinary and technology-enabled healthcare. As a respected media commentator, she has been featured across print, radio, television, digital media and podcasts, providing expert commentary on diabetes, eye health and healthcare innovation. She is also a UTS Diabetes Educator Course Advisory Committee Member.

Peter is an academic ophthalmologist and co-founder of KeepSight, a national reminder system for diabetes eye checks. He is Executive Director of the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health and an honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Tien Yin Wong is a physician-scientist-innovator and the Senior Vice-Chancellor of Tsinghua Medicine and Vice-Provost of Tsinghua University, China. He has worked and held senior leadership roles in Singapore and Australia, including at the National University of Singapore, SingHealth Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore National Eye Centre, and University of Melbourne. Prof Wong is a practicing retinal specialist, with a research portfolio on retinal diseases, ocular imaging, AI and digital technology. He has published >1,600 peer-reviewed papers (H-index >200, highly cited researcher 2020-2025), given >600 invited named, plenary and symposium lectures, and received >US$100 million in grant funding. Prof Wong has been recognized with multiple international awards, including Arnall Patz Medal (Macula Society), Jose Rizal Medal (Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology) and Friedenwald Award (ARVO). He has received Singapore’s President’s Science and Technology Award. He is an elected international (foreign) member of the US National Academy of Medicine and the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. He is also an elected fellow of the UK Royal Society.
