Professor Christopher (Chris) Nolan is a clinician-scientist working in the field of diabetes, including diabetes in pregnancy. He is Professor of Endocrinology at the Australian National University and a Senior Staff Specialist in Diabetes and Endocrinology at The Canberra Hospital. Under his leadership as Director of Diabetes Services (2011-2018), the ACT Health Diabetes Service was recognised as a National Centre of Excellence by the National Association of Diabetes Centres. His research activities traverse basic science, clinical science and public health. A few of his key discoveries include the feto-placental glucose steal phenomenon, the glycerolipid fatty acid cycle in islet beta-cells, major pre-analytical issues with laboratory measurement of glucose impacting gestational diabetes (GDM) diagnosis, and the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment of GDM in at risk women. Current projects include the investigation of insulin hypersecretion and how to reverse it in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes, the utility of the Objective FieldAnalyszer for diabetic eye disease, and the development of a novel breath ketone monitor. He is currently a Board Member of the Australian Diabetes Society, Chair of the National Association of Diabetes Centres Steering Committee, and Co-Chair of the Program Organizing Committee for the IDF-WPR/ ADC/ Metabolic Diseases 2026 Congress.

Natalie is the Chief Executive Officer for the National Association of Diabetes Centres (NADC) and ADS Director of the Foot Forward program. Natalie has extensive management experience in both clinical and executive roles across acute, aged care and primary healthcare settings. She is passionate about equity of access to the latest diabetes technologies and therapeutics and ensuring that the best care is provided to those living with diabetes. Natalie developed and launched the first Diabetes Standards and Accreditation program on behalf of the NADC in 2012 and also founded the ADATS program in 2017. In her spare time, she is the president of a Life Saving Club

Dr Elaine Pretorius is the General Manager of the Illawarra Hospital Group in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District on the beautiful South Coast of NSW. An Endocrinologist and General Physician by training, she is now a fulltime medical administrator. Her passion for equity and excellence in diabetes care remains and is reflected in her involvement as a member of the NADC Steering Committee and Chair of the Accreditation Committee for diabetes centres. Elaine has a special interest in clinical governance, quality improvement and clinical engagement. Her other passions include cats, playing bridge (albeit not as well as she would like) and reading.

He is a general practitioner and a primary care and public health researcher, and has served as president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and president of the World Organization of Family Doctors. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, and has held past research appointments at Monash University, the University of Sydney, Flinders University, the Australian National University, and the University of Toronto. He holds a current joint academic appointment as the Foundation Director of the International Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales, and as Professor of Global Primary Care with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.

Dr Konrad Kangru is a General Practitioner from Killarney in rural Queensland and a SMO at Logan Hospital. He is also a member of the NADC Steering Committee and Diabetes Australia Health Professional Advisory Board. Konrad is also a member of the RACGP Rural faculty Council, and a Director on the NQPHN Board.

Margaret McGill AM is an Associate Professor with the The University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine and Health and Associate Director of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Diabetes Centre, Sydney. Marg has a very broad range of experience in developing innovative clinical services for diabetes and medical and health professional education and is recognised as a global leader in these areas. Marg was Senior Vice President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). She was Chair of the IDF Consultative Section on Diabetes Education (DECS) for 9 years and developed its global education strategy during this time. She developed the concept of the IDF Centres of Excellence. Marg was on the Clinical Council of ISPAD and developed the first Science School for Health Professionals in 2004, a program that is still conducted today. She won the ISPAD Lesdredet Prize for her global contribution to children. Among many current volunteer appointments for diabetes, she is currently on the Health Professional Advisory Council to Diabetes Australia. She was the first female and first nurse to become a Life Member of the Australian Diabetes Society. She was named in the 2011 Australia Day Honours List with the award of Order of Australia (AM) for her contribution to diabetes nationally and overseas. In 2024 Marg was bestowed the honour from the IDF of Honorary Fellow for her immense contribution to diabetes, globally

Anthony Zimmermann has been working as a senior staff Specialist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Elizabeth Vale, Adelaide since 2003. He has been the Head of Diabetes and Endocrine Services, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) since 2013. He holds a Clinical Associate Professor title in the Department of Medicine at the University of Adelaide. He is an enthusiastic mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees and has earned citations for excellence in clinical teaching. He is a Principal Investigator for the Australian National Diabetes Inpatient Audit (AusNaDIA) and Australian Diabetes Clinical Quality Registry (ADCQR) Scientific Advisory Committee member.

Professor Weiping Jia is Chair Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Director of the Shanghai Diabetes Institute, and Director of the Institute for Proactive Healthcare of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She has been dedicated to research on precision diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, early warning and screening, pathogenesis, and prevention and control engineering management. She has published more than 300 papers in leading international journals. She is also Chief Editor of the Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine, Director of the AASD, President elect of the IDF-WPR, and Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences. Professor Jia has received numerous prestigious honors, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award, Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, Xiaoren Pan Distinguished Research Award for Epidemiology of Diabetes in Asia, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Science and Technology.

So Hun Kim, M.D., Ph.D. is currently Professor of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Internal Medicine, Inha University College of Medicine, Incheon, Korea and the head of the department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Inha University Hospital. She graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine in 2000. She earned her Ph.D. at Yonsei University in 2008. After her intern, residency and fellowship at Severance Hospital she joined the division of endocrinology and metabolism, department of internal medicine of Inha University, Inha University Hospital since 2007. Her research focuses on complications of type 2 diabetes, including cardiovascular disease, diabetic kidney disease, and MASLD, lifestyle modification and metabolic syndrome. She is currently the Director of the Committee of International Liaison of the Korean Diabetes Association, a council member of the Korean Endocrine Society, Korean Society for the Study of Obesity, and Korean Association of Internal Medicine.

Prof. Lim is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Head of the Department of Research, Development, and Innovation at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is the former Head of the Diabetes Care Unit, Universiti Malaya (2022-2025). She also holds honorary positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. As a clinician-scientist, Prof. Lim’s major areas of interest are cardiometabolic medicine (epidemiology, molecular, and implementation science). Prof. Lim sits on the Scientific Work Groups of the American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes (ADA/EASD) Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative and the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Diabetes Compact. She has published more than 130 peer-reviewed articles, including in The Lancet, Nature, Diabetes Care, and Science Bulletin. Prof. Lim has received several awards, including the 2025 Malaysia Scopus Research Start Award – Women in Research Excellence (STEM) Category, Universiti Malaya’s Top Cited Researcher 2024, World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University for 4 consecutive years (2022-2025), and the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) Albert Renold Fellowship, tenable at the University of Oxford, UK. She is an Editorial Board Member of several Tier 1 Web of Science-indexed journals. She is also the Vice President of Diabetes Malaysia (a country affiliate of the International Diabetes Federation) and the Council Member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society

Tony is the Director of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne and Professor of Medicine with the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Tony’s research interests are around models of care for management of diabetes. He has over 150 publications and was awarded the Ranji and Amara Wikramanayake Clinical Diabetes Research Award in 2022. His innovated model of care for management of type 2 diabetes was voted the top innovation across Australia at the Health Round Table in 2024. Tony is immediate past President of the Australian Diabetes Society.
