Biography

Alicia Jenkins is adult endocrinologist and researcher. Her interests include the prediction and prevention of diabetes complications, lipids, and technology use in diabetes care. She is the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Chair (2025-27), on various IDF committees and President of the Diabetes NGO Insulin For Life.

Action4Diabetes - Gaps in T1D Care Across Southeast Asia

Biography

With over 20 years of experience across the healthcare and NGO sectors, Fiona works to advance equitable and sustainable access to diabetes care for underserved communities in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs). Her work focuses on strengthening health systems, building multi‑stakeholder partnerships, and supporting the integration of Type 1 Diabetes into national health policies, including policy reform and budget prioritisation. She is currently the Regional Manager for Action4Diabetes, leading programmes across Southeast Asia to improve access to essential diabetes supplies, education, and health system strengthening initiatives. Prior to this role, she held regional and global positions at Novo Nordisk, working in access, advocacy, and public‑private partnerships to expand diabetes care in resource‑limited settings
