Biography
Professor Christopher (Chris) Nolan is a clinician-scientist working in the field of diabetes, including diabetes in pregnancy. He is Professor of Endocrinology at the Australian National University and a Senior Staff Specialist in Diabetes and Endocrinology at The Canberra Hospital. Under his leadership as Director of Diabetes Services (2011-2018), the ACT Health Diabetes Service was recognised as a National Centre of Excellence by the National Association of Diabetes Centres. His research activities traverse basic science, clinical science and public health. A few of his key discoveries include the feto-placental glucose steal phenomenon, the glycerolipid fatty acid cycle in islet beta-cells, major pre-analytical issues with laboratory measurement of glucose impacting gestational diabetes (GDM) diagnosis, and the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment of GDM in at risk women. Current projects include the investigation of insulin hypersecretion and how to reverse it in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes, the utility of the Objective FieldAnalyszer for diabetic eye disease, and the development of a novel breath ketone monitor. He is currently a Board Member of the Australian Diabetes Society, Chair of the National Association of Diabetes Centres Steering Committee, and Co-Chair of the Program Organizing Committee for the IDF-WPR/ ADC/ Metabolic Diseases 2026 Congress.

Prof. Abdul Basit is Director of the Indus Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (IDEC), Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Secretary General of the Diabetic Association of Pakistan (DAP), and President of the Diabetes in Asia Study Group (DASG). An internationally recognized diabetologist, he has made significant contributions to diabetes prevention, epidemiology, diabetic foot care, and health systems strengthening. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has played a leading role in advancing diabetes research, education, and policy in Pakistan and across Asia. In recognition of his scientific contributions, he is listed among Stanford University's World's Top 2% Scientists.

Dr.R.M.ANJANA is a practising diabetologist from Chennai, India. Her main research areas are prevention of diabetes, epidemiology, physical activity, translational research and technology related to diabetes. Dr. Anjana has published over 460 research papers in peer reviewed journals and has a H-index of 89 and i10 index of 351 with 81389 citations. She is Global Head Chair of the IDF Group on Physical Activity and a member of the IDF Atlas 11th edition - Diabetes related mortality Special Interest Group. She is also a technical expert member of the World Health organization Global Framework Indicators for secondary and tertiary care.
