A/Prof Shane Hamblin is an endocrinologist at Western Health, Melbourne and an honorary Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne and Deakin University. He is a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and is the current President of the Endocrine Society of Australia. His main research interest is in the pharmacoepidemiology of type 2 diabetes and he is a part-time PhD student in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University.

Dr. Juliana Lui is a health economist specialising in patient‑level simulation cost‑effectiveness analysis, using real‑world evidence, clinical trials and register‑based data to support regulatory evaluation, reimbursement decisions, and healthcare policy. Patient‑level modelling provides the flexibility to capture individual heterogeneity, disease progression, and dynamic treatment pathways, enabling risk stratification and precision value assessment beyond traditional cohort‑based models. She completed her Master’s training in Accountancy at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign and in Biotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a PhD in Health Economics, Policy and Management at The University of Hong Kong, and postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, and risk‑stratification programmes for diabetes and other chronic diseases, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular and renal outcomes. Her work supports health technology assessment (HTA) and the optimisation of care pathways and service delivery models. She also leads research on patient‑reported outcomes and productivity impacts, including quality of life, work presenteeism, and indirect costs associated with chronic disease, outcomes increasingly relevant to payers, regulators, and employers. Dr. Lui works closely with clinicians, policymakers and industry partners to translate evidence into actionable insights for real‑world decision‑making.

Jed works at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine as a research fellow. His research interests include epidemiology, epidemiological modelling, and health economic analysis of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. Jed is also a lead analyst for a range of epidemiologic (e.g., he is the lead analyst for the GLOBODIAB study) and health economic projects (e.g., he is a consultant health economist for the lipoprotein (a) international taskforce).

Nupur is Founder & Director at Blue Circle Diabetes Foundation, India’s largest patient-led organization for people with all types of diabetes. She works across advocacy, community engagement & digital health to improve awareness and support for people living with diabetes. She has lived with type 1 diabetes since childhood.

Rachelle Ward (PhD, 2008) has an agrifood research background that became shaped by her child's diagnosis with type 1 diabetes in 2013. She is also a passionate diabetes advocate for carers and children with type 1 diabetes, and member of several diabetes Community Advisory Committee’s.
