Biography
Alicia Jenkins is adult endocrinologist and researcher. Her interests include the prediction and prevention of diabetes complications, lipids, and technology use in diabetes care. She is the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Chair (2025-27), on various IDF committees and President of the Diabetes NGO Insulin For Life.

Per-Henrik Groop is Professor and Chief Physician (Emeritus) at Department of Nephrology, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital, Guest Professor at Department of Diabetes, Monash University, and Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. His research is focused on the pathogenesis of diabetic complications with special emphasis on diabetic nephropathy. In order to provide a unique set of clinical resources he initiated the large, nationwide FinnDiane Study in 1997. Professor Groop has published 540 peer-reviewed original articles in high-impact journals, 44 reviews and book chapters, as well as 800 abstracts presented at major international meetings.

Madeleine Hemphill is a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Philosophy student. Her research explores the markers, mechanisms and management of chronic complications in Type 1 Diabetes. She hopes to eventually specialise in interventional cardiology and integrate research with clinical practice to advance care for people with cardiovascular disease.
