Biography

Stephen Colagiuri is Professor Emeritus and Co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity, Charles Perkins Centre and Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. His research focus is evidence-based diabetes prevention and care. He served as Vice-President (Physician) on the Board of the International Diabetes Federation (2017 to 2022) and on a number of WHO technical advisory groups. He is a member of the IDF Obesity Taskforce.

Biography

Dr. Kong is Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests are diabesity with focus on clinical trials related to novel technology and therapeutics. She is the Editor in Chief of Primary Care Diabetes, Editorial Board Member of Diabetes Care, Section Editor of Current Diabetes Reports, and International Associate Editor of Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics. Dr. Kong is dedicated to teaching and won the Faculty Education Award in 2022. She has presented at numerous local, regional and international meetings and has published over 400 articles in international peer-reviewed journals.

Biography

Associate Professor Samantha Hocking is an Endocrinologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Clinical Academic at the University of Sydney. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS) Council and the current president of the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services (NACOS). A/Prof Hocking’s research interests are focused on the metabolic complications of obesity. She is passionate about education to improve the quality of obesity care in Australia. In addition, she treats patients at the Metabolism and Obesity Service, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Dr.R.M.ANJANA is a practising diabetologist from Chennai, India. Her main research areas are prevention of diabetes, epidemiology, physical activity, translational research and technology related to diabetes. Dr. Anjana has published over 460 research papers in peer reviewed journals and has a H-index of 89 and i10 index of 351 with 81389 citations. She is Global Head Chair of the IDF Group on Physical Activity and a member of the IDF Atlas 11th edition - Diabetes related mortality Special Interest Group. She is also a technical expert member of the World Health organization Global Framework Indicators for secondary and tertiary care.

Biography

Associate Professor Priya Sumithran is an endocrinologist and researcher. She is clinical lead of Obesity Medicine at the Alfred and leads the Obesity and Metabolic Medicine group at the School of Translational Medicine, Monash University. Her clinical work focuses on the care of people with obesity and type 2 diabetes, and her research interests are in the neuroendocrine regulation of appetite and eating behaviours, and the clinical application of medications and surgery for obesity and associated diseases.
