Biography

Dr Susie Cartledge is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University and a Clinical Nurse Consultant at Alfred Health in Melbourne. Susie has used her experience in cardiac nursing to research ways to support patients and families with secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Her research focuses on patient/family education, the transition of inpatient to outpatient care, cardiac rehabilitation, health literacy and digital health. Susie is passionate about implementing findings into clinical practice and leverages her clinical work and training in implementation science to achieve this

Biography

Rebecca is a Nurse Practitioner intern and Clinical Nurse Specialist at Nelson Marlborough Hospital, with a position in New Zealand's national cardiac network. She holds roles on the CSANZ Nursing Executive and Indigenous Council. Ngāti Porou descent, Rebecca is passionate about reducing health inequities, improving indigenous health, and has a special interest in cardio geriatrics, her master's research focused on this area.

Biography

Jo-Ann has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in cardiology at Taranaki Hospital for the past 13 years. Her main focus is rhythm and ACS/CP including DCCV and diagnostic testing and reporting. She sees a variety of patients in clinic, including a small percentage of CHF patients. Last year Jo-Ann mentored a colleague through her prescribing practicum, and now through her NP Internship year.

The burden of disease and the benefit of MDT: A Case Study

Biography

Kathleen Tuhimata is a Nurse Specialist Māori Health within the Cardiovascular Directorate at Auckland City Hospital. She has 14 years’ experience in cardiology nursing, including interventional cardiology, general cardiology, and nurse specialist roles. Kathleen has been working in her current Māori Health role for the past 2.5 years, supporting Māori patients and whānau alongside the wider multidisciplinary team. She is deeply supported by her Nurse Unit Manager, colleagues, and whānau, all of whom enable her to stand confidently in this space. Kathleen is passionate about improving health provision and understanding for Māori, with a strong focus on supporting informed decision‑making. Her motivation is grounded in her whānau, partner, and children, who remain at the heart of her “why”.
