Standardisation of echo reporting with AI

Biography

Martyn is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Deputy Director of the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, and academic in the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Auckland. The primary focus of his research is on studying the structure and electro-mechanical function of the heart in health and disease. Martyn leads the design of computer model and AI-based approaches to cardiac image analysis to facilitate experimental and clinical research, and to standardise and accelerate diagnosis and treatment monitoring related to heart disease to ultimately improve patient management and care. Martyn collaborates widely and has supervised 45 post-docs and research assistants, as well as 39 PhD, 19 Masters and more than 150 Honours dissertation and intern students. He has authored more than 160 journals articles and 45 book chapters, which have collectively attracted more than 9500 citations to-date.

Remote Echocardiography and Reporting in Regional Healthcare

Biography

Ms Khin Khin Htar is an experienced cardiac sonographer at Gisborne Hospital, New Zealand. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.) from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar, and began her career as a medical doctor. After relocating to Singapore in 2007, she retrained in cardiac sonography and developed strong expertise in echocardiography. With over 19 years of clinical experience, she has worked in tertiary hospitals and private cardiology practices, including senior roles at the National University Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. Ms Khin has been ARDMS registered since 2014 and joined Gisborne Hospital in September 2024, obtaining MRTB registration and an Annual Practising Certificate in December 2024.

Biography

Dr Kerryanne Johnson is a non‑invasive imaging cardiologist based at Waikato Hospital. Her medical training began at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom, before her career journey brought her to New Zealand. After completing a Multi‑modality Imaging Fellowship at Leeds General Infirmary, she developed specialised expertise in Cardiac MRI, Cardiac CT, and advanced echocardiography. Dr Johnson is deeply engaged in the cardiology community, serving on several Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) committees and contributing to both Waikato regional and national cardiac networks. Outside of clinical practice, she enjoys singing a cappella with the Waikato Rivertones and spending time with her family.
