If you have already registered to attend the World Potato Congress 2024 and require an invitation letter, you may request this via wpc@theconferencecompany.com
We are not able to issue invitation letters to anyone who is not registered to attend the World Potato Congress 2024. You may request the invitation letter during the registration process. You will be required to enter your passport details on the registration form.
INSURANCE
It is strongly recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to Australia.
BOOKING YOUR TRAVEL TO ADELAIDE
Adelaide Airport is currently the fifth-largest domestic airport and sixth-largest international airport in Australia. It is the aviation gateway to South Australia, conveniently located just 7km from the city centre.
TRANSPORT FROM ADELAIDE AIRPORT
The international airport is just a quick and economic taxi ride to the Centre. The average taxi travel time is 16 minutes. There is a designated taxi rank located at the left of the pedestrian plaza as you walk out of the terminal. Concierges provide a safe environment and allocate taxis to passengers. They can also organise taxis with wheelchair access, five-seaters and maxi taxis for larger groups or station wagons for large amounts of baggage.
If you wish to use public transport to/from Adelaide Airport, Adelaide Metro offers an express double decker bus service called JetExpress between the airport and the city. Single trip and daytrip tickets can be purchased from bus drivers.

June sees Adelaide’s weather with average temperatures between 8 - 16 degrees Celsius and 9 rainy days.
TIME
Adelaide standard time is 9.5 hours ahead of GMT.
CURRENCY / BANKING
The currency used is the Australian dollar. Banking hours are usually 0930 -1600, Monday to Friday. Automatic Teller Machines are well spread throughout the Adelaide business district. International credit cards are accepted throughout the country banks, most hotels and city stores.
GOODS AND SERVICE TAX
Goods and Services in Australia are subject to a 10% tax (GST). This tax is usually included in the price and if not, it is clearly stated. The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) enables travellers to claim a refund of the goods and services tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) paid on some goods bought in Australia. ELECTRICITY
Australia uses a 240-volt 50 cycle system with 3 pin flat plugs.
DRESS
Dress for all scientific sessions is smart casual. Dress for the Gala Dinner is cocktail/lounge suits.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN ADELAIDE
Adelaide Metro is the public transport system of Adelaide, offering an integrated network of bus, tram, and train service throughout the metropolitan area.
The historic Adelaide Railway Station is located a two-minute walk from the Adelaide Convention Centre, and a Tram stop is just in front of the Railway Station.
The free City Connector bus is an easy way of navigating around Adelaide.
Adelaide is great to tour by bike as well. Including City of Adelaide’s Free Bikes, and bike sharing services.

PARKING
The Convention Centre has two undercover car parks accessible with the North Terrace and the Riverbank car parks. Both are located directly under the Centre and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Automated payment stations accept credit/debit cards, current rates are found on the Centre’s website.
ACCESSIBILITY
