At the IDF’s 82nd World Dairy Summit in Auckland in 2001, The a2 Milk Company introduced the a2 Milk® brand of A1 protein–free (A1PF) milk to the world. Twenty-five years on, A1PF is now a global category exceeding USD 10 billion, with participants ranging from regional producers to multinational companies. Supported by a rapidly expanding body of peer-reviewed science, A1PF dairy is defined by the natural absence of A1 beta-casein, helping make the nutritional value of dairy more accessible. This presentation highlights the scientific foundation and the need for robust, standardised testing to ensure product integrity and consumer confidence.

Volatility, sustainability scrutiny and tightening reporting standards are elevating visibility into raw-milk supply from operational concern to enterprise priority. Yet critical data at the point of collection often remains fragmented and disconnected from decision-making.

Drawing on the design and implementation of one of the world’s largest centralised raw-milk supply chain systems, MADCAP will present a real-world case of upstream digitisation at scale. The discussion will consider how integrated digital infrastructure and real-time data access strengthened governance, elevated reporting integrity and reinforced resilience across a global dairy supply chain operating in 23 countries.

As the dairy sector navigates rising expectations for nutrition, sustainability and economic resilience, new opportunities are emerging to rethink how dairy is processed, packaged and delivered. Richard Stretton, Technical Director Process Systems at Aurecon, will talk about the various decarbonisation projects across New Zealand’s dairy sector in recent years. These projects have included industrial scale electrification and biomass conversions as well as investigations into the potential of biogas and other fuel alternatives. Richard and the Aurecon team have worked across the full decarbonisation process, from Purchase Price Agreeements (PPAs) through to on-site installation of new equipment.
