James Chalungumana is Chief Investigator for Cartels and Restrictive Business Practices at the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Zambia. His main duties are to assess and investigate trading practices to ensure competitiveness and fair trading in the market. Anti-competitive practices investigated to enhance competition and consumer welfare include abuse of dominant positions of market power, restrictive business agreements, collusive conduct, resale price maintenance and other practices as prescribed by the Competition and Consumer Protection Act, No. 24 of 2010. Over the years, he has coordinated surveillance and intelligence gathering activities; employed diverse methods in investigating complex cartel investigations and offered expert advise to Government and other stakeholders on laws affecting competition among other assignments.
He enjoys spending time with his family, is a passionate social footballer and keenly follows motorsports.
