Field Trip Day

Friday, 13 September, 9am - 2.45pm
Delegate ticket: $100
Dress code: Smart casual (please bring wet weather gear)

The ForestSAT field trip offers the opportunity to step outside the conference room and experience local landmarks including the Whakarewarewa forest. The ticket will include transport and lunch on the day.

Timberlands, our field trip sponsor, will host a full-day program in Rotorua. The schedule includes a visit to the scenic Whakarewarewa redwood forest, where Interpine will demonstrate use of the hovermap terrestrial laser scanning system. This versatile system is being widely used in New Zealand for inventory purposes. We will also travel to an operational forest setting on the field trip, within one of the largest plantation forests in the world, and there will be discussion within this setting, by the forest managers, around how remote sensing is being used for management of this extensive forest (amongst other topics). Participants will also have the opportunity to see the Blue Lake and its surroundings, and there will be a buffet lunch at Rydges. Upon returning to the Energy Event Centre, attendees will have an option to disembark for a relaxing hot soak at the renowned Polynesian Spa or visit Kuirau Park, a geothermal park in the city centre.

Buses depart from the Energy Events Centre at 0900. Please remember to bring wet weather gear and your own filled water bottle.
