Phan Nguyen is head of unit of the Department of Thoracic Medicine, the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is senior editor on Respirology, and associate editor on Respirology Case Reports. He is a member on WABIP’s continuing medical education committee and is head of the Bronchoscopy and Interventional Techniques Assembly of the APSR.

Rajesh Thomas is a Respiratory Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology consultant at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital, Perth. He leads the Lung Cancer and Bronchoscopy services at SCGH including an Interventional Bronchoscopy training program. His PhD research was on “Indwelling Pleural Catheter management in malignant pleural effusions” from the University of Western Australia, Perth. He continued as early career researcher with NHMRC and Cancer Council WA and his current research is focussed on improving thoracic cancer outcomes through advanced bronchoscopic interventions. He is passionate about bronchoscopic training and safety and runs regular interventional bronchoscopy workshops in Perth.

Dr. Herath completed her Respiratory and Sleep Medicine training in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2011.
She completed a Fellowship in Interventional Bronchoscopy and Thoracic Malignancy at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 2014.
She had completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, investigating radial EBUS and cryo biopsy for the diagnosis of lung nodules in 2023.
Dr Herath is actively involved in research and teaching and has published widely in major peer-reviewed journals and has won multiple scholarships and grants for her research contributions.
Currently, Dr Herath is working as a specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Physician, at Northern Beaches Hospital and Macquarie University Hospitals in Sydney. Dr. Herath holds an honorary senior lecturer position at Macquarie University.

A/Prof. Badiei is a staff specialist in the department of thoracic medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He initially completed a degree in Biomedical Engineering and then a PhD in Medicine prior to embarking on a career in medicine. His basic and initial advanced physician training was at the RAH before completing his fellowship at the pleural medicine unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia. He currently works as an interventional pulmonologist and is the pleural lead at the RAH. His research interests are in the area of interventional pulmonology and thoracic imaging.
