Biography

Clinical Associate Professor André Schultz is a physician-researcher based at Perth Children’s Hospital and Program Head of Respiratory Health at Telethon Kids Institute. He is a MRFF Investigator and previous NHMRC TRIP Fellow. He is a Chief Investigator for the Centre for Research Excellence in Respiratory Health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children (AusBREATHE), Deputy Chair of the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry Steering Committee, and President of the Australian Council of Smoking and Health. His research focuses on improving lifelong health trajectories from early childhood, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Biography

Vanessa McDonald is a Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle, Australia and an honorary clinical nurse consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital. She is Director of the Centres of Excellence in Treatable Traits, and the Hunter Medical Research Institute’s Asthma and Breathing Programme. Her research interests are centred around the development of innovative approaches to the management of chronic airway diseases. She is passionate about the development and implementation of personalised medicine strategies that place the person at the centre of health care delivery. Over >25 years Vanessa has developed expertise in respiratory clinical nursing practice and education, has contributed extensively to respiratory health advocacy and health policy and, has developed as an internationally recognised respiratory researcher. She is committed to committed to improving the health and quality of life of people with lung disease in our region and internationally, and to the mission of lung health.

Pulmonary rehabilitation: An official American Thoracic Society clinical practice guideline (with Anne Holland)

Biography

Dr Narelle Cox is the Senior Research Fellow in Physiotherapy and Respiratory Research at Monash University, Melbourne; and is a current NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow. Narelle completed her undergraduate and Masters degrees from the University of Sydney, and was awarded her PhD in 2014 from La Trobe University in Melbourne. Her research focuses on improving health and clinical outcomes for people with chronic respiratory disease through exercise rehabilitation; including exploration of telemedicine and technology-based strategies to improve access to pulmonary rehabilitation services for people of all ages with a chronic respiratory disease.

Anne Holland is Professor of Physiotherapy and Head of Respiratory Research at Monash University and Alfred Health in Melbourne, Australia. She leads a research program investigating non-pharmacological treatments for chronic lung disease. Anne is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow and President of the TSANZ.

Mariana Hoffman is a research fellow with expertise in pulmonary rehabilitation, oxygen therapy and inspiratory muscle training. Mariana is a physiotherapist by background, master in adapted physical activity and doctor in rehabilitation sciences.

Dr Josie McCabe is a Respiratory & Sleep Physician at Christchurch Public Hospital, Aotearoa New Zealand. Her areas of interest include Non-Invasive Ventilation, Medical Education and using new technology to guide evidence based practice. Dr McCabe is a member of the Clinical Care Resource Committee for TSANZ and the Conference Steering Committee.
