Chris is an Accredited Clinical Physiologist (Respiratory) with 10 years’ experience in both private and public respiratory laboratories. Chris is currently a Senior Scientist at the Prince Charles Hospital and Vice-Chair of the Queensland branch of ANZSRS. Chris is passionate about the importance of quality control and assurance in respiratory laboratories and enjoys mentoring student and junior clinical measurement scientists.

Caitlin is the Chief Scientist of Queensland Respiratory Services, the largest private respiratory function testing service in Queensland. She achieved her CFRS in 2020 and has worked as a respiratory scientist for 10 years. Based at the TSANZ accredited lab at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane, Caitlin looks after 15 satellite laboratories with the assistance of two knowledgeable Senior Scientists and believes that you are only as good as the team around you.

Charles G. Irvin, Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine, Physiology and Biophysics, in the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Irvin received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and was a NIH postdoctoral fellow at McGill University in Montreal. From 1980-1998, he was on the faculty of the University of Colorado-Denver and since on the UVM faculty.
Dr. Irvin’s scientific career has focused on understanding the mechanisms of airways dysfunction of the patient with COPD and asthma. Using a multidisciplinary approach including: cell and molecular biology, animal models and systems, transgenics, physiology, imaging and clinical studies. With >250 peer-review publications, Dr. Irvin enjoys an international reputation.
Dr. Irvin is a member of the European Respiratory Society, American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the TSANZ. He has garnered many awards including; the ATS Joe Rodarte Distinguished Science Award, UVM University Scholar Award, Fellow of the European Respiratory Society, Distinguished Educator of the Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy, ATS Life time Achievement Award in Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics, Fellow of the ATS and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (London). In 2023, he was made an honorary member of ANZSRS.

Pam is an accredited clinical physiologist (respiratory) with 30 years’ experience. Pam is currently the Deputy Head Scientist and Laboratory Manager of the Physiology Service at the Alfred where she has worked since 1993. Pam also worked at Austin Health from 2012-2021. Pam is known for her enthusiasm in ensuring quality control is performed well and standards are met. Pam has been a member of the ANZSRS since she entered the field and has been involved in local organizing committees, updating the qualification guidelines for scientists, lecturing in spirometry training courses and has been on several laboratory accreditation panels.

Respiratory physiologist and international expert on clinical respiratory measurement, past President of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and current Head of the Melbourne School of Health Science, The University of Melbourne. His published works include a book on lung function, as well as numerous book chapters and 165 peer-reviewed journal articles and official documents. His international reputation has led to him being invited to participate on five American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society task forces and is currently a co-chair of the ATS/ERS task force writing the Lung Function interpretation document which is to be used across all lung function laboratories globally.
