8:30 AM - 8:45 AM

Abstract

Biography

Dr Miles is a cellular and molecular biologist with research expertise in cancer biology, infectious diseases and cell death signaling pathways. He is interested in understanding the pathophysiology of respiratory viruses and how host inflammatory responses are altered during infection, which may contribute to disease progression.
Miss Sophie Miller
Student
South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute

Oropharyngeal metagenome is associated with respiratory tract infection and mortality in residential aged care

8:45 AM - 9:00 AM

Abstract

Biography

Sophie Miller is a PhD student specialising in clinical and molecular microbiology at Flinders University and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute. COVID-19-associated lung injury evolution characterised by significant immune cytometric flux.

9:00 AM - 9:15 AM

Abstract

Biography

Luke is a basic physician trainee with an interest in respiratory medicine and transplantation. He is a General Sir John Monash Scholarship recipient through which he conducted COVID-19 lung immunopathology research in the UK, alongside exposures in ex vivo lung perfusion, nocturnal respiratory monitoring and international organ donation auditing practice.

Identification of Staphylococcus aureus hypermutator strain through metagenomic sputum analysis

9:30 AM - 9:45 AM

Abstract

Biography

Dr. Taylor heads the Respiratory Health Group within the Microbiome and Host Health Programme at SAHMRI. His research program investigates airway pathophysiology in people with chronic lung diseases, in particular, the contribution of the airway microbiome to disease onset, progression and treatment efficacy
