Biography

A/Prof Subash Shanthakumar Heraganahally, is the Director and Head of the Respiratory and Sleep service at the Royal Darwin Hospital & Darwin Respiratory & Sleep Health, Darwin Private Hospital, Darwin, NT, Australia. He is also a faculty at the Flinders university, Northern territory medical program, Darwin, NT. He has published over 90 peer reviewed papers, mostly addressing respiratory and sleep health issues in the adult Indigenous Australians. He is also the recipient of the TSANZ Robert Pierce Grant-In-Aid for Indigenous lung Health in 2023.

Melanie Stevenson is a Respiratory Advanced Trainee completing her advanced training at Sutherland and Westmead Hospitals. She has a keen interest in teaching and is a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She plans to subspecialise in interventional pulmonology and has presented internationally at APSR.

Biography

Christine is head of the Respiratory Group at The George Institute for Global Health; Clinical Professor at the University of Sydney; and Professor of Respiratory Medicine at UNSW Sydney. She is a thoracic physician with a clinical research focus on the management of airways disease and has overseen many clinical trials and participated in international study steering committees and monitoring boards. Christine has been active in advocacy and leadership for lung health in Australia over many years. At The George Institute she manages a research group implementing trials in asthma and COPD in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Dr Slavica Kochovska is a Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong. Combining applied health research with an academic background in linguistics, her research focuses on understanding chronic breathlessness for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and alleviating its impact through better recognition, assessment and response in clinical practice.

Biography

Assoc/Prof Disler is an Australian Research Council Discovery DECRA Fellow from Monash University. Through her research, she leads improvement in access to care and models of care for people living with advanced chronic disease, particularly in rural settings. Rebecca is funded by a prestigious ARC Fellowship to address end-stage chronic disease in rural Australia. As Fellow of the American and ANZ Thoracic Societies, Convenor of the Symptom Support and Palliative Care group for ANZ Thoracic Society, and as a Cochrane review author, her work has been included in several international and national guidelines, including NICE UK and global GOLD strategies.
