Dr Matthew Parker is a Staff Specialist and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has a special clinical and research interest in autoimmune and related muscle diseases and in connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease.

Biography

Dr Dowman is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Respiratory Research@Alfred group within the School of Translational Medicine at Monash University, leading high-quality internationally recognised research investigating the benefits of supportive therapeutic interventions in ILD. She also has substantial clinical experience and specialist knowledge in the rehabilitation of people with chronic lung disease, through her senior exercise physiologist role at Austin Health.

Palliative care for ILDs

Biography

Anthoulla Mohamudally migrated from her native London in 2001 after attaining MRCP. After completing FRACP advance training in Palliative Medicine in Sydney, her first specialist position was with Territory Palliative Care NT from 2009 to 2014 caring for paediatric and adult patients in regional and remote settings. Here her interest in respiratory palliative care took off. Anthoulla returned to Sydney in 2014 as a specialist with HammondCare and with a multidisciplinary team implemented a Breathlessness Program. Anthoulla was a specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital before joining RPA Hospital in 2021. She runs a weekly ILD-Palliative Care clinic in parallel with the RPA ILD service. With the team she is conducting research in identifying needs and facilitating palliative care referrals for patients with ILD.

Biography

Professor Paul Reynolds is currently the Medical Lead/Clinical Director of the Heart and Lung Program of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network. He trained at the University of Adelaide and the Royal Adelaide Hospital in General and Thoracic Medicine. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1992. He completed a PhD in airway inflammation at the Hanson Institute then spent five years working in the USA at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Human Gene Therapy. In 2002 he returned to the Royal Adelaide Hospital Department of Thoracic Medicine as Senior Consultant Physician and Director of the Lung Research Laboratory, Hanson Institute. He was awarded an MD for his Gene Therapy work in 2009, which involved gene therapy strategies for pulmonary hypertension. He is a former President of the TSANZ and winner of the Society Medal. He is an active clinician and currently Chairs the CREATE Early Career development program of the CRE for Interstitial Lung Disease.
