She brings experience from her five years working at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Claire is dedicated to advancing respiratory care and is actively involved in clinical research within the field.

Liane has 7 years of experience as a respiratory and sleep scientist in Townsville. She has a passion for increasing awareness and improving quality of lung function assessment. Along with her clinical load, Liane is finalising her Master of Philosophy thesis at James Cook University.

Biography

Kushani has been in the PFT field since 2019, with previous experience from SA Pathology. Currently at the TQEH, Adelaide. Works as a senior scientist, involved in routine and complex testing and training. She is the ANZSRS regional Vice chair for SA/NT. Has a keen interest in Arterial blood sampling and training methods.

Prof Charles Irvin

Biography

Charles G. Irvin, Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine, Physiology and Biophysics, in the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Irvin received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and was a NIH postdoctoral fellow at McGill University in Montreal. From 1980-1998, he was on the faculty of the University of Colorado-Denver and since on the UVM faculty. Dr. Irvin’s scientific career has focused on understanding the mechanisms of airways dysfunction of the patient with COPD and asthma. Using a multidisciplinary approach including: cell and molecular biology, animal models and systems, transgenics, physiology, imaging and clinical studies. With >250 peer-review publications, Dr. Irvin enjoys an international reputation. Dr. Irvin is a member of the European Respiratory Society, American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the TSANZ. He has garnered many awards including; the ATS Joe Rodarte Distinguished Science Award, UVM University Scholar Award, Fellow of the European Respiratory Society, Distinguished Educator of the Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy, ATS Life time Achievement Award in Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics, Fellow of the ATS and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (London). In 2023, he was made an honorary member of ANZSRS.
