Michael Abramson is Emeritus Professor in the School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine, Monash University, Melbourne. He is interested in effects of air pollution upon respiratory health and for 9 years led the Hazelwood Health Study, investigating long-term health effects of a fire in an open-cut brown coal mine.

Barbara is a biostatistician with more than 15 years of professional experience ranging from the government to the university sector. Before joining Flinders University she provided statistical advice and support to her colleagues at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), UNSW, Sydney and National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), UNSW, Sydney. Barbara is also the former president of the South Australia branch of Statistical Society Australia. Her current research interests are analyzing sleep measures and disorders, breathlessness, using meta-analysis, mixed models and count models.

Dr Sheikh M Alif is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the Institute of Health and Wellbeing, Federation University Australia and a Research Fellow of Respiratory Science at the University of Melbourne. Alif is an early-career occupational and respiratory epidemiologist specialising in exposure assessment and its impact on chronic diseases in longitudinal studies. Alif has over 16 years of research experience studying exposure assessment in multiple occupations where people are exposed to pesticides, solvents, lead, asbestos, coal mine dust and silica.
