The symposium aims to provide an evidence- based approach to managing OSA for children beyond adenotonsillectomy and CPAP. This symposium will focus on the alternative and adjunctive methods used to managed OSA in children, providing the surgical and medical perspectives and including data from recent randomised controlled trials and clinical research.

Biography

Associate Professor Raewyn Campbell is a rhinologist and skull base surgeon in Sydney, Australia. Raewyn completed 3 international fellowships in Rhinology and Skull Base surgery. Raewyn is the president of the Australia and New Zealand Rhinologic Society, the secretary of the Australia and New Zealand Skull Base Society and is the Australian representative on the European Rhinologic Society Advisory Board. Raewyn is the ENT research lead for the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Institute of Academic Surgery. Raewyn is currently undertaking a PhD in ergonomics at The University of Sydney.

Biography

A/Professor Jasneek Chawla is an experienced Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Specialist at Queensland Children’s Hospital, Brisbane and a clinician researcher leading the Kids Sleep Research Group at the Child Health Research Centre, University of Queensland. Her clinical and research interests include sleep in children with complex disability, other vulnerable populations and translating emerging paediatric sleep technologies for clinical practice. As the theme leader for Children and Disability within UQ’s Disability Collaboratory Group, Jas is a strong advocate for children with disability and works closely with many consumer representative organisations and individuals with lived experience in her work. Jas is the current president of the Australasian Sleep Association and is passionate about improving sleep for all Australians.
