Prof Matthew Naughton is head of general respiratory & sleep medicine at Alfred Hospital and is an adjunct clinical professor, Monash University. His interests include cardiopulmonary function in health and disease, during exercise, rest and sleep especially pertaining to the effects of positive airway pressure and oxygen therapy. He has been a lead clinician in a bariatric surgical RCT. He has been involved in the development of guidelines for the American Thoracic Society.

A/Prof Claire Ellender BSc MBBS FRACP PhD, is a Respiratory and Sleep physician at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Her areas of research include evaluating health literacy in sleep medicine, equity in accessing sleep therapies for complex or disadvantaged groups. Dr Ellender is the head of the PA-Southside Clinical Unit at the Faculty of Health Medicine and Behavioural Science, University of Queensland. In this role she oversees the training of 300 medical students annually.

Associate Professor Elie Matar is a dual-trained consultant neurologist and sleep physician, and a Horizon Fellow at the University of Sydney. He leads the Sleep Neurology and Movement Disorders Services at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and practises clinically at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney with a particular interest in neurological sleep disorders. As an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow, he leads a research program, which investigates how disturbances of sleep and arousal contribute to cognitive decline, delirium and neurodegenerative disease. His particular focus is on Lewy body disorders and isolated REM sleep behaviour disorder in which he is a recognised international authority. He is the ASA representative on the RACP Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Advanced Training Committee and holds executive and leadership roles across national and international cognitive and movement disorders societies.

Bud Nanayakkara is a passionate rural clinician, academic, and educator, with a particular interest in respiratory failure, pulmonary vascular diseases, and pulmonary physiology.
