3:51 PM - 3:57 PM

Biography

Ranudi Hewage is a PGY2 Resident Medical Officer and is currently a part of the prevocational program at the Women's and Children's Hospital. Their clinical interests include paediatric medicine, respiratory medicine and sleep. Along with clinical practice, they are passionate about education and advances in research to improve outcomes in the paediatric population.
Mr Anthony Turton
Chief Scientist
Monash Lung Sleep Allergy And Immunology

Concordance in sleep measurement between a home test and PSG

3:57 PM - 4:03 PM

Biography

Anthony studied Psychophysiology at Swinburne University and started working in a Sleep Laboratory in 2001. Anthony has had a variety of roles from Sessional Teaching and Tutoring at universities to Clinical Application Specialist with a Sleep Diagnostics manufacturer. Anthony has been involved in numerous investigator led and sponsored trials. Primarily though, Anthony has held Senior Scientist roles in Clinical Sleep Medicine. With over twenty year’s experience in Sleep Science, Anthoy currently holds the Principal Sleep Scientist role at Monash Health.
Mr George Normore
Phd Student
Child Health Research Centre

When Children Sleep in Motion: Quantifying Actigraphy's Nap Detection Error

4:03 PM - 4:09 PM

Biography

George is in the third year of his PhD which he is completing at the Child Health Research Centre in Brisbane. George has started referring to himself as the 'squiggly line guy' because of how much time he has spent manually classifying the signal visualisations of various sleep measurement technologies. He daydreams of a world with functional sleep detection algorithms for paediatric populations in naturalistic settings.
Mr Jeremy Stonehouse
Head Sleep Scientist
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

Medical escalation criteria for heart rate monitoring during polysomnography

4:09 PM - 4:15 PM

Biography

Jeremy Stonehouse is the head sleep scienitist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He has worked as a clinical sleep scientist since 2007 and has held the RPSGT credential since 2011. He has a special interest in non-respiratory sleep disorders and quality assurance related activities.
Mr Tuan Anh Vuong
PhD Candidate
Flinders University

Feasibility of brief airway occlusions for measuring upper airway collapsibility

4:15 PM - 4:21 PM

Biography

Presenting author is a PhD candidate in the second year of his PhD journey.
Ms Olivia McGuiness
Senior Physiotherapist
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

Agreement between two commonly used pulse oximeters during in-laboratory polysomnography

4:21 PM - 4:27 PM

Biography

Jessica Matthews holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from the University of Sydney, graduating with First Class Honours for her project and receiving the University Medal (2026). She demonstrated outstanding academic performance and research capability during her honours year, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and interests in respiratory and sleep medicine.
Ms Soaiba Zannat
Master Of Public Health (research) Student
Macquarie University

How closely do our sleep research measurements actually agree?

4:27 PM - 4:33 PM

Biography

Dr Soaiba Zannat is a Master of Research student at Macquarie University with a background in medicine and public health. Her research explores a deceptively simple question: when sleep-related measures are repeated in the same person under highly controlled laboratory conditions, how much variation should we expect? Her work examines test–retest agreement and reproducibility across polysomnography, quantitative EEG, cardiovascular, and cognitive outcomes, with a particular focus on the appropriate use and interpretation of Bland–Altman analysis to characterise within-person variability in healthy adults.
Mr David Mansueto
Phd Candidate
Flinders University

Optimising temperature capsules ingestion timing: an algorithm to detect excretion

4:33 PM - 4:39 PM

Biography

David has a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering and a background including mechatronic R&D, manufacturing, and health care. Aiming for a career designing medical devices to improve lives, David is now undertaking a PhD, working to solve an unmet need in sleep health by developing tools for daily tracking of circadian timing. Such tools could help to treat circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorders — something that David first demonstrated at 9 years of age — as well as enable faster circadian adjustments for shift workers and international travellers.
