Biography

Dr. Timothy Howarth is a leading researcher in respiratory and sleep medicine, with a particular focus on chronic respiratory diseases, novel methods for sleep apnoea severity estimation, and sleep health in Australia. His work spans epidemiology, diagnostic advancements, health technology, treatment optimisation, and healthcare disparities, with a strong emphasis on improving health outcomes for Indigenous Australians and remote communities. Through his research, he seeks to develop more precise diagnostic tools, culturally adapted treatment strategies, and innovative healthcare delivery models that address the unique challenges faced by these populations.

Biography

Clinical Associate Professor Gary Kilov is a founding member of both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Diabetes specific interest group and the primary care diabetes society of Australia. He is a contributor to the RACGP diabetes handbook, a member of several National Diabetes Supply Scheme Expert Reference Groups and past editor in chief of the PCDSA journal. Associate Professor Kilov shares his time between Launceston treating patients with diabetes and obesity related conditions and providing peer-to-peer and medical undergraduate education on diabetes and related conditions. He has published in peer reviewed journals on diabetes, obesity and respiratory medicine.

Jack Manners is a Research Fellow at FHMRI: Sleep Health, currently coordinating two clinical trials focused on using novel technologies to simplify and improve the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Dr Manners' broader research explores the integration of emerging technologies into clinical care, with a focus on OSA phenotyping, identifying sleep-related risk factors, and predicting functional outcomes such as cognitive performance. This work is supported by his development and stewardship of a large, multi-study sleep data repository.

Professor Brendon Yee is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician who graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and completed his PhD at the University of Sydney. He is a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Clinical Professor at the University of Sydney. He specializes in sleep disorders and respiratory failure, and has published over 150 scientific manuscripts. He also serves as the Medical Director of Respiratory Failure Services at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital .

He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian Society of Physicians, a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and a Registered Polysomnographic.
