This symposium session will focus on new, collaborative models of care for managing obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), delivered by nurses, pharmacists, and exercise physiologists. It will highlight how transdisciplinary care approaches that optimise treatment, particularly through personalized interventions addressing patient-specific needs. This session will emphasize the importance of a team-based approach in managing sleep health, particularly OSA, fostering a holistic view of patient care and enhancing clinical outcomes.

Prof Bandana Saini is an academic at the Sydney Pharmacy School, University of Sydney, and Research Lead at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, Sydney. She is an academic pharmacist working on health services implementation research in community pharmacies for respiratory and sleep health interventions.

Todd Marion is a community pharmacy owner and credentialled consultant pharmacist from Kiama NSW. Todd has developed a keen interest in sleep health and has provided sleep services over the last 15 years. Whether it is in his pharmacy, or at the patient's home during medication review, Todd has an emphasis on sleep health as a pillar of health. Todd thrives on multidisciplinary and patient centred care and enjoys working with the broader sleep health professional community. Outside of work Todd’s key pursuits are family life, masters football and mountain biking.

Biography

Elizabeth is an accredited exercise physiologist and nutritionist who was awarded her PhD through the University of Sydney. She is a clinical researcher with interest in therapeutic interventions to reduce metabolic impairment and improve sleep problems to reduce associated disease burden. She has a strong background in implementation science, co-design and clinical trials in sleep disorders, exercise, diet, shift-work and metabolism. Elizabeth currently leads research in: Novel dietary interventions for patients living with hypersomnolence; Sleep apnea management through behavioural interventions and assessment of metabolism and sleep in shift workers including nurses and elite athletes.

Megan is a Paediatric Sleep Clinical Nurse and Nurse Practitioner Candidate (Paediatric Sleep Medicine) at the Queensland Children's Hospital. What she most loves about her work over the past 25 years from PICU to Sleep medicine is caring for children with chronic illness, neurodisability and supporting children and their families on their NIV journey. Megan is currently undertaking her Masters of Nurse Practitioner Studies at the University of Qld.
