The Victorian Respiratory Support Service (VRSS) is a state-wide specialist program that cares for over approximately 1400 patients on home ventilation. The VRSS is actively involved in research and provides advice to other health professionals both within Victoria and nationally.
VRSS senior physician Dr Anna Ridgers will present a practical guide to the initiation and long-term care of patients on non-invasive ventilation (NIV). The session will cover device selection, detail optimising NIV therapy with case studies and utilising remote telemonitoring for long term patient care.
Dr Ridgers is a Sleep and Respiratory Physician specialising in sleep apnoea, complex apnoea, insomnia, parasomnias and circadian disorders. She works with Melbourne’s Austin Hospital, including the renowned Institute of Breathing and Sleep, where sleep research is a key focus. Her clinical roles include inpatient and outpatient medicine (respiratory, sleep, chronic ventilation, motor neurone disease, VRSS clinics), sleep reporting and interventional pulmonary procedures (bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural procedures).

Biography
Dr Anna Ridgers is a Respiratory and Sleep physician working with the Victorian Respiratory Support Service at Austin Health in Melbourne. She has recently completed her PhD in chronic respiratory failure and non-invasive ventilation therapy. She is the medical lead for the virtual ventilation ward at Austin and is undertaking further post-doctoral studies evaluating the optimisation of non-invasive ventilation therapy.
