Biography

Dr Ashley Montero is a Research Associate at FHMRI Sleep Health. His research interests are centered around sleep, wellbeing, and human performance. His PhDresearch focuses on investigating the prevalence and severity of sleep and mental health issues in current and retired athletes. Currently, Dr Montero leads projects focusing on using new technologies to detect driving impairment related to sleepiness and understanding the mechanisms of night-to-night variability in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). He is an Editorial Board member for Psychology of Sport and Exercise and a published author of several peer-reviewed journal articles on sleep, psychology, and sport.

Feasibility of Remote Cognitive Assessments in a Pilot Circadian Study

Biography

Rachel Ka Yan is a second-year PhD student investigating how circadian rhythms influence cognitive performance. Their research focuses on diurnal patterns in attention and executive function, and how these can be measured using remote and mobile assessment tools. They completed an Honours degree in Psychological Science at the University of Adelaide in 2023, where their thesis also examined cognitive performance. Their broader interests include chronobiology, sleep science, and the integration of physiological and behavioural measures. Through their current work, they aim to contribute to a better understanding of individual variability in cognitive functioning across the day.

Josephine is a PhD candidate at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Macquarie University. Her research focuses on sleep and ageing, with a specific interest in non-invasive brain stimulation. She is currently working under the supervision of A/P Angela D'Rozario, Dr Rick Wassing, Dr Andrea Ricciardiello and Dr Tancy Kao. This is her first time presenting at Sleep DownUnder.
