Why should a dentist study a sleep study? Finding meaningful clinical applications in sleep study data extraction

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Biography

Dr. Trish Braga graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School and began her career as a general dentist in 1983. Without any advanced credentials beyond DDS, she describes herself as the most common of dentists and so realized that the procedural nature of general dentistry did not suit her. However, she thrived on the business development challenges for her multi-disciplinary practice. Finding sleep was like finding a true home. She believes it is about 50% listening, 30% problem solving, 20% laying on of hands and 100% reward. She quickly shed herself of all general dental responsibilities in the practice, devoted herself to sleep and worked gratis in a hospital sleep clinic collaborating with medical colleagues. In 2017 she was asked to develop curriculum for what is now the AADSM Mastery Program. This unexpectedly became an all-consuming project that enticed her away from clinical patient care. She continues as a full-time independent contractor for the AADSM in curriculum development and is launching a practice management program in the fall of 2024.
