A review of the important research papers published in the past two years covering sleep and breathing topics. Experienced clinicians and researchers will cover publications on obstructive sleep apnoea (epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment), central sleep apnoea and obesity hypoventilation.

Dr Mukherjee is Associate Professor of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Flinders University who is a sleep physician and researcher in respiratory and sleep medicine at Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) and Clinical Lead of Research at the Department of Respiratory and Sleep medicine at SA Health. Currently, her major fields of interest are sleep apnoea, sleep health, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. A/Prof Mukherjee been successful in obtaining multiple grants in the US, Canada and Australia (over $14M AUD), and has published extensively (>100 articles, >9000 citations, Google scholar) in high impact journals. A/Prof Mukherjee is the Immediate Past President of the Australasian Sleep Association. She was the featured co-host of Australia’s Sleep Revolution with Michael Mosley which aired on SBS in March 2024.

Amanda has more than 30 years' experience in the assessment, management and follow up of people living with hypercapnic respiratory failure. She has authored more than 100 papers and 16 book chapters on topics related to hypercapnia and non-invasive ventilation. Amanda has also been involved in the development of clinical guidelines for the American Thoracic Society on the assessment and use of home ventilation for patients with stable, ambulatory Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome and stable hypercapnic COPD patients.
