Details
The workshop explores how Otaua School has begun to build a coherent, schoolwide approach to Assessment for Learning that strengthens teacher practice and improves student outcomes. Drawing on the experiences of what we have undertaken over the last 18 months, the session will outline practical systems and strategies used to develop strong pedagogical practice across classrooms, including the use of clear learning intentions, success criteria, student agency, and purposeful use of assessment data to inform teaching. The presentation will share examples of how leaders can support teachers to improve their own teacher practice, respond strategically to areas of need, and develop consistent expectations for high-quality assessment for learning practice. Participants will gain insight into the leadership and professional learning structures we are using to introduce and sustain improvement, along with practical ideas they can adapt within their own school contexts.
