Joining Manurewa Intermediate School as Principal in 2008, Iain Taylor has transformed the school, earning the 2017 Prime Minister’s Supreme Award. He champions student-led, high-engagement learning. Inspired by his active upbringing, Iain established the Manurewa Intermediate School's rural campus (MI Papakāinga), providing students with resilient, hands-on, and nature-based experiences to bolster academic success. With over 30 years of experience in the UK and New Zealand, Jo McIntyre-Brown specialises in embodied learning and sustainability. After eight years leading STEAM for Te Kāhui Ako o Manurewa, Jo is now Director at MI Papakāinga, spearheading a curriculum centred on outdoor learning, cultural heritage, and environmental reconnection.
