Samantha Small: Optimising Flow Cytometry Assays for Longitudinal Analysis (90 mins)

Details

Research utilising flow cytometry often gives rise to a multitude of samples which cannot all be analysed simultaneously or may have samples collected across a range of timepoints. With longitudinal collection of samples and data, extra steps must be taken to ensure comparable results for concurrent analysis. This workshop will cover the main aspects of such research that must be considered to ensure standardisation is achieved from sample collection through to processing, staining, acquisition, and analysis. Considerations for panel design and optimisation will be discussed. Once the study is underway, tips for actions on the bench to ensure sample quality and to standardise staining protocols will be provided. Also discussed will be understanding what data issues may look like and how to approach them, the controls required for longitudinal analysis, and data normalisation techniques. Understanding and implementing these best practices will lead to better outcomes for samples collected as part of a longitudinal study, and higher quality data.
