Fiona is a highly experienced Cardiac Physiologist who is passionate about workforce standards and sustainability. She has held roles of Charge Cardiac Physiologist at Auckland City Hospital for > 35 years, was instrumental in setting up registration for Clinical Physiologists in NZ and is current Chairperson of the Society of Cardiopulmonary Technology, the professional Board for the Cardiac Technical workforce. She is presenting today in her role as Chairperson of the Pacific Islands Pacemaker Services.

Kirsten has recently retired as Head of the Paediatric and cardiac surgical service at Starship but continues in her Hearts4Kids Trust role organising team visits to operate in Suva , Fiji. She has had a longstanding interest in valve repair surgery for rheumatic heart disease and in the education and support of surgeons doing paediatric cardiac surgery in less well developed countries. She is currently President of the World Society of Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgeons.

Dr Jimaima Kailawadoko-Matanaicake is a Fiji-trained physician and public health officer with years of experience in disease surveillance and program management. She earned her MBBS from the Fiji School of Medicine in 2007 and served eight years as a Public Health Medical Officer at the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services. From 2015-2018 she worked with the WHO Suva Office as Communicable disease surveillance officer then National Influenza surveillance officer. In 2020 she completed a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Sydney and returned to Fiji to support COVID-19 surveillance. In November 2020 she joined Cure Kids Fiji as Lead for Rheumatic Heart Disease Research, and in 2023 appointed Country Manager overseeing both the RHD and Oxygen programmes. Her areas of interest are health systems strengthening, data-driven decision making and capacity building.
