Biography
Anna is the Managing Director of The Centre for Health and Manawaora Integrated Health and Research, organisations dedicated to advancing equitable and culturally responsive healthcare systems. Her vision is to foster a health framework that is participatory, informed, and reflective of diverse cultural values, with a particular emphasis on Māori perspectives on wellbeing.
A recognised health practitioner and researcher, Anna holds extensive leadership and governance experience within the health sector. Her work integrates a robust academic foundation with a commitment to translating research into practice, advocating for approaches that support individuals and communities in navigating pathways toward sustainable health and wellbeing.

Ariana Walker (Waikato, Rereahu, and Te Aupouri) is a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Community Cardiology team at Te Whatu Ora Waikato. With a deep commitment to equity and Indigenous practice in nursing, drawing from her diverse experience in respiratory nursing, implementation of safe discharge services during COVID, and supporting nursing students at the University of Waikato to inspire holistic, culturally-informed healthcare practices; Ariana is committed to providing culturally safe practices that challenge western paradigms and overcoming barriers for Indigenous peoples in healthcare. During her spare time, Ariana finds herself immersed in all facets of Māori culture, ensuring her three Tamariki and whanau thrive within a community of diversity and aroha.

Erina Korohina (Ngāti Porou) is a public health nutritionist and researcher at Manawaora Integrated Health & Research. Her work focuses on Indigenous health, including Māori heart health, workforce development, and community-led research. She leads Te Ara Poutama – Living Well with Heart Disease and serves on the CSANZ Scientific Committee and Equity, Diversity and Culture Working Group.

Bridging the Gap: Exploring Patient Access Barriers in Rheumatic Heart Disease Care in Fiji

Dr Jimaima Kailawadoko-Matanaicake is a Fiji-trained physician and public health officer with years of experience in disease surveillance and program management. She earned her MBBS from the Fiji School of Medicine in 2007 and served eight years as a Public Health Medical Officer at the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services. From 2015-2018 she worked with the WHO Suva Office as Communicable disease surveillance officer then National Influenza surveillance officer. In 2020 she completed a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Sydney and returned to Fiji to support COVID-19 surveillance. In November 2020 she joined Cure Kids Fiji as Lead for Rheumatic Heart Disease Research, and in 2023 appointed Country Manager overseeing both the RHD and Oxygen programmes. Her areas of interest are health systems strengthening, data-driven decision making and capacity building.
