Dr Przemysław (Przemek) Palka is an internationally recognised cardiologist and cardiovascular imaging scientist with over 35 years of combined clinical and academic experience. He holds both an MD and a PhD and has made pioneering contributions to the development and clinical translation of Doppler Tissue Imaging. His early work, published in leading journals including Circulation, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and the European Heart Journal, helped establish modern echocardiographic assessment of myocardial mechanics and myocardial disease. Dr Palka has published more than 60 peer‑reviewed articles, has accumulated over 2,000 citations, and holds an h‑index of 23. Currently, Dr Palka is Director of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group and practices at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and Mater Private Hospital in Brisbane. His contemporary research focuses on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), echocardiographic assessment of left‑sided filling pressures and management of cardio‑oncology patients.

Rajesh Pathy is a PhD candidate at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute. He has finished his Cardiology training at the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, with current undertaking of his PhD in inflammatory atherosclerosis with application of CCTA imaging.

A/Prof Sandhir B Prasad is a senior staff cardiologist and clinical lead in echocardiography at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. He is a Monash medical graduate, completed his training in cardiology at Wellington Hospital (NZ), and then completed research and clinical fellowships at Westmead Hospital (Sydney), MonashHeart (Melbourne) and Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane). He has been awarded research fellowships from the National Heart Foundation (NZ), Centres of Health Research (Qld) and Metro North (Clinician Research Fellowship). He is the recipient of Awards of Excellence from ASUM (Australasian Sonologist of the Year) and Metro North Hospital and Health Service (Clinical Research Award). His PhD focussed on the pathophysiology of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland and Griffith University.

Gina Quill is a Cardiac Sonographer who has worked in Cardiovascular Research for 20 years. She has an interest in three-dimensional echocardiography and the use of A.I for automated and reproducible measures of cardiac function.

Dr Saransh Saini is a Basic Physician Trainee at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Network in Sydney, Australia. His clinical training spans cardiology, general medicine, and intensive care and he has a a strong interest in evidence-based medicine, artificial intelligence and advanced non-invasive imaging.

I am a Cardiac Physiologist with a specialist interest in the early detection and characterisation of cardiovascular disease. My clinical and research focus centres on myocardial tissue characterisation and the identification of valvular heart disease at its earliest, most treatable stages — areas where timely diagnosis can profoundly alter patient outcomes.

Jack Stewart is a final-year medical student at Monash University with a strong academic and clinical interest in cardiovascular medicine. He is currently based at the Victorian Heart Institute under the supervision of Associate Professors Andrew Lin and Nitesh Nerlekar, where his research focuses on advanced cardiac imaging, particularly non-invasive coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). His work explores quantitative plaque analysis and imaging biomarkers to better understand coronary artery disease progression and treatment response.

Kristyn Whitmore is a Cardiovascular Research Nurse at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, with a strong commitment to advancing prevention and improving cardiovascular health outcomes. With a clinical background in cardiac care and research coordination, Kristyn works at the interface of patient care, clinical trials, and translational research. She has a particular interest in risk communication and how the way cardiovascular risk is presented influences patient understanding, engagement, and long-term adherence to therapy. Her work focuses on developing and evaluating strategies that improve health literacy, support shared decision-making, and empower patients to take an active role in managing their cardiovascular risk. Kristyn is especially passionate about reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease through early detection, evidence-based intervention, and patient-centred communication approaches. By integrating research findings into practical clinical strategies, she aims to improve outcomes at both the individual and population level.

Dr Daniel Chen is a cardiologist and clinician-researcher specialising in cardio-oncology and advanced cardiac imaging. He is a Staff Specialist at Prince of Wales and St George Hospitals, where he leads ICOS Gold Accredited cardio-oncology services. His work focuses on defining cardiovascular phenotypes and improving risk stratification in patients receiving cancer therapies. He is a founding director of the Australian Cardio-Oncology Network (ACO-Net) and Co-Convenor of the inaugural Australian Cardio-Oncology Research and Education Symposium (2026), supporting national collaboration and research capacity building in cardio-oncology, implementation of best practice, and research translation.
