Dr John Mandrola is a cardiac electrophysiologist based at Baptist Health in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to his clinical work, he is widely recognised as a leading voice in contemporary cardiology through his writing, podcasting and public engagement. Dr Mandrola is known for his clear, patient-focused commentary on cardiovascular care, evidence-based medicine and the responsible use of medical technology.
Dr Mandrola earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate medical training at Indiana University, where he distinguished himself academically and clinically, receiving the Outstanding Fellow Award. I am a 4th year medical student from The University of Newcastle/University of New England Joint Medical Program. I have a keen interest in cardio-oncology and the clinical implications of oncological therapies on co-morbid patient populations. I hope to improve long-term patient outcomes by implementing screening and monitoring practices prior to and during chemotherapy.
Our aim is to better stratify patients according to baseline cardiovascular risk enabling more individualised chemotherapy selection, whilst maintaining treatment efficacy, and proactively mitigating treatment-related cardio-toxicity.
Through early identification, collaborative multidisciplinary care, and appropriate longitudinal follow-up, we seek to balance oncological efficacy with cardiovascular optimisation. Ultimately ensuring patients not only survive cancer but maintain meaningful long-term cardiac health.

Dr Xingzhou Liu is a cardiologist currently undertaking a research electrophysiological fellowship at Westmead Hospital. He graduated 1st class Honours in Medicine from Sydney University in 2016 and completed his cardiology advanced training at Royal North Shore Hospital. As part of his fellowship, he is pursuing a PhD under the supervision of A. Prof Pierre Qian and A. Prof Stuart Thomas investigating novel technologies for the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias using large animal models. His work is supported by a prestigious PhD scholarship from the Heart Foundation.

Dr Jared Pleash is a final-year Cardiology Advanced Trainee at Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Queensland. He completed his medical degree at James Cook University and undertook his internship and physician training in Far North Queensland, where he developed a strong interest in improving access to cardiovascular care for regional, remote and underserved communities.
His principal clinical interest is interventional cardiology, with additional interests in procedural safety, clinical governance and cardiovascular outcomes. He has served as Chief Cardiology Registrar for the past two years, developing experience in clinical leadership, trainee support and service coordination.
Dr Pleash is actively involved in clinical research, with work examining anticoagulation during atrial fibrillation ablation and outcomes following cardiac surgery in regional populations. He intends to pursue fellowship training in interventional cardiology while maintaining an active involvement in research and quality improvement.

I’m a cardiologist undertaking a PhD at the Australian National University alongside a clinical EP fellowship at Westmead Hospital, Sydney.
My work integrates clinical practice with advanced research in arrhythmia science and cardiac gene expression. My research interests focus on ventricular tachycardia, emerging ablation technologies, and hiPSC-derived cardiomyocyte models. I am committed to advancing the field of electrophysiology through innovation, data-driven discovery, and translational research aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Rajesh Subbiah is the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. He is Professor of Medicine, Conjoint Faculty of Medicine at UNSW and Faculty of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. His main research interests are on cellular mechanisms of SCD and cardiac ion channelopathies.
