Biography

Dr Lachlan McDowall is a Clinical Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist practicing in private consultation rooms and hospitals on the North Shore of Sydney, Australia and the Central Coast. Lachlan completed three degrees and postdoctoral research at the University of Sydney over a period of 12 years, first graduating with a Bachelor of Science with first class honours (2003). He was subsequently awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship to complete a PhD in Physiology, the Faculty of Medicine (2007) and finally postgraduate medicine, awarded a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (2011). Lachlan spent his postgraduate clinical years as an Intern, Resident, Physician training and finally Cardiology Advanced Training at Royal North Shore Hospital becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and Cardiologist in 2018. He followed this with subspecialty training as a Clinical Electrophysiology and Pacing Fellow at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane (2019) and Toronto General Hospital in Canada (2020-21). Concurrent with medical training he continued post-doctoral research in Physiology and continued lecturing at University of Sydney concurrent with his PhD, medical degree and into his clinical years. Lachlan has returned to Australia and rejoined his established network on Sydney’s North Shore and NSW Central Coast to provide Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing services and adult General Cardiology. In 2024 he established a brand new electrophysiology program at Gosford Hospital, for the first time making electrophysiology studies and ablation locally accessible for both public and private patients locally on the central coast.

Dr Benjamin Moore is a Staff Specialist Electrophysiologist at RPA, and has VMO appointments at Mater Hospital, St George Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. He is a clinical senior lecturer at Sydney University.

Biography

Dr Jonathan Ciofani is a cardiology registrar and researcher at Royal North Shore Hospital with clinical interests in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease and genomics. He holds a Master of Public Health from Imperial College London, and a Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Medical Science from The University of Sydney. Jonathan currently Chairs the CSANZ Fellows in Training Committee, is member of the CSANZ Education Committee, and is Section Editor for Genomics and Precision Medicine at Heart, Lung and Circulation.
