A/Prof Mayooran Namasivayam is a Staff Specialist Cardiologist, Associate Director of Echocardiography and Interventional Echocardiography Specialist at the St Vincent’s Hospital Campus, Sydney, Conjoint Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW, Sydney and Faculty member of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Clinically, A/Prof Namasivayam manages patients across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease including valvular heart diseases, systolic and diastolic heart failure, cardiomyopathy and hypertension, and performs cardiac procedural imaging planning and guidance. A/Prof Namasivayam graduated medical school from the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours and subsequently completed specialist cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He completed a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, St Vincent’s Hospital and UNSW. Following this, he spent two years in Boston where he completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University. As Head of the Heart Valve Disease and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, A/Prof Namasivayam leads research into heart valve diseases combining his expertise in cardiovascular physiology, cardiac imaging and artificial intelligence analytics.

Professor Girish Dwivedi, MD, DM, MRCP (UK), PhD (UK), FESC, FASE, FSCCT, FCSANZ, is the inaugural Wesfarmers Chair in Cardiology at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, University of Western Australia (UWA), and Consultant Cardiologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Murdoch, Perth. He leads the "Advanced Clinical and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging" group at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (University of Western Australia) and also holds the position of Joint Head of the Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes Program at Perkins, as well as serving as the Director of the Cardiometabolic Clinic at the Centre for Cardiometabolic Health and Research, Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has >250 manuscripts accepted or published. Several of his original research manuscripts have been published in top-tier journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine, JACC, Circulation, JACC-Imaging, and Circulation Heart Failure. He has written chapters in a highly prestigious book in Cardiology (Principles and Practice of Clinical Cardiovascular Genetics published by Oxford University Press). His group has conducted pioneering work examining the association of inflammation and atherosclerosis. He has utilized a trans-disciplinary approach that involves translational medicine and novel cardiovascular imaging methods in assessing subclinical atherosclerosis in distinct inflammatory clinical phenotypes. This body of work has received many grants and generated several publications in high-impact journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine, Chest, Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, and AJP-Heart and Circulatory Physiology. After arriving in Perth, he has collaborated closely with the Computer Science colleagues at UWA. Dr. Dwivedi started working with a MedTech start-up company based in Perth (Artrya Ltd) soon after its inception as the Chief Medical Officer and as Chief Scientific Officer (since 2021). Their joint research program is focused on the development of artificial intelligence algorithms to automate advanced and novel cardiac CT biomarker assessment towards heart disease events. Dr. Dwivedi contributed to the development of the intellectual property, resulting in a TGA approved product.

Professor Martin Ugander, MD, PhD, FCSANZ, is since 2019 Professor of Cardiac Imaging at the University of Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital. His research spans non-invasive diagnostic methods in heart disease using MRI, CT, echocardiography, SPECT and PET imaging, as well ECG and emerging and sometimes wearable sensing technologies.

Dr Victoria Delgado is currently the head of the cardiovascular imaging department of the Heart Institute at the University Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol in Badalona, Spain. She graduated from medical school at the University of Barcelona (Spain), completed her PhD at Leiden University. She is currently President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging of the European Society of Cardiology. She is also president of the Scientific Commission Sciences de la Vie et de la Santé - 4 (SVS-4) of the F.R.S.-FNRS (Belgium) and has formed part of several grant selection panels. She has been Senior Editor of Circulation and Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

A/Prof Johan Verjans is a clinician-scientist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Future Imaging Fellow at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML), and Platform Leader AI at SAHMRI. Trained via an MD-PhD at Maastricht University, he completed fellowships at UC Irvine, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and the University Medical Centre Utrecht, before joining the University of Adelaide in 2017. His subspecialty in prevention/lipids (RAH) and advanced cardiovascular imaging (Cardiac MRI and CT) at Jones Radiology. During his tenure as Deputy Director at AIML, the group grew from 2 to 40+ members, integrating clinical, biomedical, engineering and AI expertise to position Adelaide as a global leader in AI in healthcare. The group has won international technology challenges and partnered with Global teams at Roche, Siemens Healthineers, and Medtronic, earning a nomination as AI Centre in Medicine of the Year (AIMED 2022). His group develops methods in AI in systems biology and imaging, and AI implementation work, with collaborations with SA Pathology, SA Pharmacy, and multiple hospitals on landmark AI projects such as RapidX AI (world’s first AI RCT in Chest Pain), Automedic (SA Health’s largest AI deployment in Pharmacy), and Cardiomics(Automation of LDL guideline adherence). He has published 175+ papers, including NEJM, Circulation, JACC, JACC imaging, Nature Reviews Cardiology, and leading computer science venues CVPR, ICCV, IEEE TMI, MICCAI. HIs team won the first NIH global Medical VQA Challenge, early precursor of ChatGPT like models. A frequent keynote speaker at major cardiovascular and AI conferences, he has chaired national meetings, contributed to international AI in medicine guidelines, authored book chapters(incl first AI Book in Medicine), and serves on editorial boards including European Heart Journal Digital Health. He is a member of National Advisory Board of the Heart Foundation.

Professor Clara Chow is Academic Director of the Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC), Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. She is a cardiologist and Clinical Lead of Community Based Cardiac Services at Westmead hospital. She was appointed to the Board of the National Heart Foundation in 2024 and is also a member of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Governing Board, Sydney, Australia. Professor Chow is Director of the Australian Stroke and Heart Accelerator (ASHRA). Her recent award highlights include being a finalist for the NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year - Woman of Excellence Category - in 2024 and 2020 respectively, receiving a Research Australia Digital Health Technology – Highly Commended Award, becoming an Honour of Australia recipient as well as a Fellow of the AAHMS in 2023 and being honoured with a Telstra Health - Brilliant Woman in Digital Health Award in 2022. She holds an honorary appointment as the Charles Perkins Centre Westmead Academic Co-director and is past (first female) President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Professor Chow’s research focuses on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, innovation in the delivery of cardiovascular care and the evaluation of digital health interventions. She has expertise in the design, delivery and implementation of clinical trials. Her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia was in cardiovascular epidemiology and international public Health and her Postdoc from McMaster University, Canada in clinical trials and cardiac imaging. She has over 300 publications including papers in internationally leading medical journals NEJM, JAMA and Lancet. She is supported by an NHMRC Investigator grant.

Prof Kaz Negishi, MD, PhD, MSc is an academic cardiologist and clinical trialist based in Sydney, Australia. He completed his cardiology training and PhD in Japan then worked in the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, now in Australia. He was Head of Medicine at Sydney Medical School Nepean, University of Sydney, and since 2024 has served as Chair of Cardiovascular Research at the University of New South Wales, South Western Sydney. He also holds faculty appointments at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the Ingham Institute and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney. A current Future Leader Fellow of the Heart Foundation of Australia, Prof Negishi has secured over $16 million in research funding and is the lead inventor on a global PCT patent for a novel ultrasound probe and system for therapeutic applications of ultrasound. He was recently awarded a Master’s degree in Health Economics, Outcomes, and Management in Cardiovascular Sciences from the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research spans from basic science to epidemiology, focusing on: 1. Therapeutic ultrasound applications (sonothrombolysis & sonoperfusion) 2. Myocardial strain imaging 3. Cardio-oncology 4. Environmental cardiology, particularly the impact of air pollution on cardiovascular disease
